Rotarod provides an easy way to test the motor activity in rodents. Central nervous system damage, disease effects on motor activity, drugs administartion, fatigue … can be assessed by measuring the time during which the animal will keep on walking on the rotating bar
Our ROTARODs show some unique features as:
    • Constant speed rotation OR Constant Acceleration Rate on the same instrument
    • a complete microelectonic control of the speeds and acceleration,
    • a power transmission allowing a continuous speed variation and avoiding belts and their wearing
    • a large display showing for each lane the timer and the speed of the animal
    • a complete RS232 link for PC (free software supplied) or Printer
    • an indépendant drum easy to disassemble for cleaning of the complete instrument
    * Stand Alone instruments they do not need a PC to be used

    Three models are available:
    • LE 8200 (5 mice)
    • LE 8300 (4 Rats)
    • LE 8500 (4 rats or 4 mice, only changing the central drum)

A removable upper separator is included in the LE 8300 and LE 8500, avoiding interference between animals running in adjacent lanes
LE 8500 comes with 2 drums, 1 for Rats, 1 for Mice. The drum for mice includes spacers to reduce the lane width to 50mm

The microprocessor control allows more precise timing control and more accurate rotation regulation, for speed and acceleration :
    • Individual time counters (min:secs)
    • Each counter runs from the beginning of the test, until the animal falls from the drum to the lane
    • An Electronic switch allows for an accurate selection of speed from 4 to 40 rpm (RUN Mode), or for a precise selection of the acceleration rate (ACC Mode)
    • The Rotation is at a perfect constant speed from 4 to 40 rpm (RUN Mode), or at a fixed acceleration rate from 4 to 40 rpm in a choice of 5 selected times: 30 secs, 1, 2,5 or 10 min (ACC Mode)
    • A special manual setup allows for a rapid training of the animals using acceleration as a first step and then switching to a constant speed at the user will

A built-in RS 232 port allows the transfer of data to a PC or a printer
    • Datas are stored in memory as a table lanes / trials
    • The data can be transfered to a PC, using Serial Data Communication
Software (SEDACOM) supplied free with the instrument
All data are in ASCII format to be exported to other programs (Microsoft Excel as example)

Supplied with: power cable, RS232 standard cable, SEDACOM software communication link and user manual (English language)

Special model upon request: a model with the central rotating bar located at a higher position is available.
